Marsannay is the gateway to the Côte de Nuits lying on the outskirts of Dijon. In 1987 the AOC appellation was granted and this is the only
appellation in Burgundy producing red, white and rosé wines. Clos du Roy is a south-east facing vineyard situated in the hamlet of Chenôve,
here the dark brown soils contain marls and clay with small stones providing good drainage. Clos du Roy is being considered for promotion
to a Premier Cru in the near future.
