| FixinA quiet village located between Marsannay and Brochon in the Côte de Nuits. It is a fusion of two small hamlets, Fixin and Fixey. The appellation received official recognition in 1936 and produces mainly red wines from 109 hectares of vines. There are five premier crus: Clos de la Perrière, Clos du Chapitre, Clos Napoléon (all monopoles), Les Hervelets and Les Arvelets. Wines from Fixin are similar in style to the northern parts of Gevrey-Chambertin, typified by their robust and "sauvage" character. Often tannic when young, they soften over time with the best examples developing complexity and depth of flavour.
