Guillaume d'Angerville comments on the vintage " the defining element of 2002 is balance. The wines have everything they need and in
the right proportions, especially ripe phenolics. We harvested a bit more than 40 hl/ha overall, which is certainly more than the 25 hl/ha
in 2001. The grapes were so ripe that everything came in at over 13% and there was virtually no chaptalization. I think it's even better
than 1999 because of the near perfect balance yet with the already completely integrated tannins, the '02s will drink well young but age
for 15 to 20 years with no problem." (Quoted in Burghound, 04/04)
